João Pedro Miranda grew up in Ribatejo more specifically in Vila Franca de Xira.
He started to ride at the age of 8, owned his first horse when he was 10 and by 17, he was a professional of this hard but noble art.
During his way, among other influence and references, he was fortunate to meet, learn and practice Classical riding at the house of the Great Master Luís Valença and later on deepened his knowledge in the Army and in Competition riding. (German doctrine)
Nowadays João Pedro Miranda’s riding is a fusion and combines the best of what each type of riding offers, in applying his method of work, techniques from each one, and so his permanent goal is that the horses are calm, forward going, straight, with impulsion and flexibility, within the accuracy and the correction of exercises that this rider advocates.
João Pedro Miranda was ranked first in his riding monitor course – in Mafra – 2002
He is a responsible technician of Riding Centers by the National School of Equitation.
As a riding monitor he has had as his students many professional horse riders from various equestrian areas, from dressage, show jumping and three day eventing to TREC , working equitation and even bullfighting.
He was part of the famous school in Mafra for many years, having been a teacher of several sections in the various courses of Horse Riding.
As a rider, he has ridden at the Centro Equestre da Lezíria Grande for 4 years as a student of the great Master Luís Valença, participating in many equestrian shows.
He was also part of the school of Mafra for 8 years and took part in numerous public presentations, as a rider for school.
He has worked in many Horse riding centers/schools and stud farms, where he trained, presented and arranged many horses.
As a dressage rider he was placed and won several national competitions, highlighting the Bronze Medal of the Portuguese Dressage Cup ( Introductory Level – 2007 ) and Gold at the International Festival of the Lusitano Horse(2006).
During one of his sports seasons he was trained by Master Martins Abrantes (who was several times National Dressage Champion).
He also had show jumping lessons with Master Ricardo Portela Ribeiro, an olimpic rider.
CH was part of the National school of equitation and gave lessons to the 1st course to become an assistant of horse riding monitors held in the Algarve, and in the same region he gives private lessons, courses and clinics.
As an official of the Portuguese Equestrian Federation he’s a National Dressage Judge, having judged for many years some of the biggest dressage competitions in the country, such as the National Dressage Championships, the finals of the Dressage Cup of Portugal, the Professional Riders Championships and numerous other dressage competitions. He was also part of the organization of many competitions, as well as having been a scribe for international judges in various Dressage competitions.
Also on his curriculum there are presentations to the public in major equestrian exhibitions in the country (National Horse Fair - Golegã / International Festival of the Lusitano / International Salon of the Sport Horse / Horse Fair of Ponte de Lima / Equus and International Show Jumping Competition),
numerous National horse fairs and even shows done abroad such as France and Thailand. |
